Hale Arago was born on the planet Arrill where he was the only child of a wealthy family. As a child he was given every pleasure a boy could dream of. As a young man he became an amateur astronomer and quickly realized it was what he wanted to do for a living. He would eventually attend Arrill Astronomy Institute and graduate with honors. He became an astronomy professor and acquired a job teaching at AAI and would marry a fellow astronomer by the name of Karra. During his time at AAI he was able to use the Astronomical research telescopes as much as he liked. One night while star gazing he came across a constellation that appeared to be moving. He assumed he was just tired and decided to go home. The next night he located the same constellation only in a different location. Over the next several days this constellation appeared to be getting closer and closer to his planet. Hale had no idea what this was but he thought it best to tell someone. However, his fellow colleagues dismissed his findings as nonsense. A few weeks later his homeworld came under attack by a large space creature. However, Green Lantern Thomok of Space Sector 2912 arrived to battle this creature. He fought bravely but during this battle he was mortally wounded. He ordered his Green Lantern Power Ring to find a replacement Green Lantern on Arrill so that the new wearer could finish off this creature. His ring chose Arago Hale as his successor. Upon receiving the ring Hale received a message from Thomok.
"You are now the new Green Lantern of Space Sector 2912. Defeat this creature attacking your world and join your new brothers in arms. The Green Lantern Corps"
Hale defeated this creature and while doing so noticed strange markings on its body. Markings that reminded him of a certain moving constellation.
Hale Arago of Arrill served as the Green Lantern of Space Sector 2912. He has distinguished himself as a heroic and fearless officer while serving the green light. Tales of Hale Arago's actions spread throughout the Green Lantern Corps and the brave Lantern was justly recognized by both his fellow Lanterns and the Guardians of the Universe. As recognition for his deeds, the Guardians promoted Hale Arago to Green Lantern Honor Guard. The Honor Guard is a special force of elite Lanterns who have been chosen for their exemplary service or capabilities and serve full time on Oa.
Base Figure: DC Green Lanterns Light 4 Pack Sinestro Head: Mattel Avatar Roku figure head. (Dremel work was needed to make the head compatible) Painting: Gray was used to give the hair a little more detail in some of the cracks. It had a pony tail crest with horns on the very top of the head. I chose to cut this off all together. I actually repainted all the hair with a very very light gray. If you were to look at the head before the paint job you would probably think it doesn't look any different. Thoughts: This was a pretty simple custom. Another member for my Green Lantern Corps.
I will give this design a 4/5. I liked the part how he saw the signs of the creature but his late realization costed a GL's life, this makes it sounds like he became one of THE best GL to show respect to his now-dead predecessor.
You should make figure comics from all the customs you come up with. Would love to see that!
I actually have an artist doing comic pages on a few of them.
As for your comment. His late realization of the patterns on the creature has nothing to do with the GL's death. That GL would have arrived either way to do his job. Hale would not have been able to help him even if he knew what he had seen was a creature. The creature being "the constellation" he saw was simply a way to tie receiving the ring of the fallen Lantern to his past.
